Cape Charles sunsets and beach

Every evening, the sun goes down over the bay

Cape Charles faces west across the Chesapeake, so the sunsets here are the main event. In the off-season you'll often have the beach, the fishing pier and the dunes to yourself.

Who stays with us in the off-season

A home base for a few weeks or a few months

Cape Charles slows down after October. That's when the house works best for people who need room, quiet and a real kitchen rather than a hotel.

Travel nurses and medical staff

Furnished, month-to-month, with your own suite and bath. Take the golf cart into town and the car to your shifts.

Remote workers

Starlink high-speed internet, a work desk and a printer. Take calls from the upstairs deck and close the laptop in time for the sunset.

Contractors and project crews

Three suites means three people with their own bathrooms. Monthly pricing keeps lodging simple on a long job.

Relocating or renovating

Between houses, waiting on a closing, or living through a remodel. Settle in somewhere comfortable while the rest gets sorted out.

A fresh chapter

Going through a separation or a big life change? The house is private and calm, with long walks to the water and a wood fire in the evenings.

Writers and creators

Weeks of quiet, a big table, bay light and nothing on the schedule. A good place to finish the book, edit the series or start something new.

Winter in Cape Charles

A small town that slows down for winter

After the summer crowds leave, Cape Charles gets quiet. The historic district is calm and walkable, the beach is mostly empty, and you can often have the fishing pier to yourself.

The house is in Kings Creek Landing on Stone Road, just outside the historic district. The beach, coffee and shops are about five minutes away.

Questions

Before you ask

What's the shortest stay you offer off-season?

One week, between November 1 and May 1.

Can I book a summer stay with you directly?

Yes. Send an inquiry with your dates and we'll check our Airbnb and VRBO calendars before we confirm. Summer runs $350 to $400 a night with a three-night minimum and a $300 cleaning fee. Mid-May through August usually books up early, so the sooner you ask, the better.

What's included in the monthly rate?

All utilities, Starlink internet, a fully furnished and equipped house and the six-seat golf cart. You bring groceries and clothes.

Can I stay longer than a month?

Yes. Stay as many months as you need. Each month is $3,000, and we set it all out in one agreement.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes, pets are welcome, up to two per stay. Stays under 30 nights have a $100 pet fee. Monthly stays have a $250 pet cleaning fee plus a $250 refundable pet deposit, returned after checkout if there's no pet damage. Service animals are always welcome at no charge. Tell us about your pet in the inquiry.

Are there taxes?

Stays under 30 nights include Virginia sales tax and the Northampton County lodging tax, about 11.3% in total. Stays of 30 nights or more are generally exempt, and we'll confirm when we send your quote.

Can I see the house first?

Yes. Ask for a video walk-through or an in-person visit when we call.
